Another Thursday, in our distance-school. We all hope you and your families keep being alright. We also hope you are working hard and learning lots of new things, although we know this is not the best situation and we all miss our classes, our friends, and many other things.

What is the thing you miss more form the "normal school"?? WRITE A COMMENT!! (In English, please)

VALIDO: a the person selected by the King that governs the country instead of the king

REGENT: a person appointed to govern a state during a period of time because the regnant monarch is a minor, is absent, or is incapacitated

MORISCOS: Muslims who had converted into Christianity after the Conquest of Granada in 1492. They were Christians, but they kept some Muslims customs and traditions. 

CONSANGUINITY: the quality of being descended from the same ancestor as another person.

1. Make a list of the kings who ruled Spain during the 17th Century.

    Felipe III, Felipe IV, and Carlos II

2. Answer the questions.

    -Who fought in the "Thirty Years War"? Name a territory Spain lost in the war

            Catholics and Protestants fought in the "Thirty Years War." Sapin lost the Netherlands.

    - Why did the War of Succession start? Who ruled Spain after this war?

        The War of Succession started because Carlos II died without an heir (he had no children). 

        The Bourbon dynasty governed after that war.

3. Who were the royal favourites? Give two examples

        The royal favourites, or VALIDOS, were people selected by the king that governed the country instead of the king. For example, the Duque de Lerma was the valido of Felipe III, and the Conde-Duque de Olivares was the valido of Felipe IV.
